Lubao International Balloon Festival (March 2015)

A few days ago, my family decided to go out-of-town since we won’t have the chance to do so during the holy week because of church activities. My sister suggested to go and visit the International Balloon Festival in Pradera, Padre Siongco in Lubao, Pampanga for the sake of our two adorable babies since that will definitely be a sight to them (yeah, to us as well ;))

We went on the last day, Sunday, March 29. We live in Quezon City so we departed around 4:30 to be just in time for the Balloon Flying. We lost our way but we weren’t late. By the time we reached the place, the balloons were still preparing. But the ticket line was pretty long so we had to wait a little and we kind of had fun taking pictures so when we got inside the field, some hot air balloons took off already. But then, they look prettier in the sky since looking at them situated in the field is a little overwhelming for a Thumbelina like me. Hehe

There were 44 hot air balloons in attendance but I wasn’t able to take pictures of them since everything happened too fast. I’m sorry 😦 but here’s some! 🙂

I wanted to see it but it didn’t turn towards us 😦 Fly along my pink heart! ❤IMG_8599IMG_8597  IMG_8608IMG_8614

The cake looked scrumptious so I looked for a chance to take a picture of it solo and closer!

Well played advertisement NLEX (?) + Meralco :)) We were all surprised to see a lone balloon suddenly flying up the sky. Not to mention those drones na agaw eksena. Hahaha

Looking at the balloon-filled sky was a spectacle. I wasn’t able to capture its beauty but it would be better to see it first hand!

There were two hot air balloons that remained on ground. This Korean newspaper can be rented to let you ride up to a certain height and then it will bring  you back down again. It costs Php500 per person per ride and it doesn’t really fly high but it’s good for experience 😉

The other balloon is this laaaaaaarge toad. I wasn’t able to see it “go up and down” probably because of its size I think they had a hard time inflating it.

While the balloons were flying, there were also a number of motor para-gliders going round and round the field. We weren’t able to see the show at night since we were travelling with our babies but I’m quite sure it was also terrific since there were fireworks, lanterns and such along with another balloon flight. I just didn’t like that they weren’t able to follow what’s on the program. They started on time but after the balloon flight, the field became empty. We weren’t able to see the opening program, street dance and animal show before we left. We waited for an hour but no activity happened 😦 Nonetheless, I liked that they were really organized. The parking, the show location, the stalls and viewing area were promptly guarded by the staff. There was system and they clean the place (picking the trash) every now and then. They were really prepared for this event and I salute them for that. Overall, it was a wonderful experience! 🙂
